The word of the Chairman of the Board of Directors

Praise be to God, Lord of the worlds, and prayers and peace be upon the faithful guide who is sent as a mercy to the worlds,Having said that,

May God bless this country with a wise leadership headed by the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques and his faithful Crown Prince – may God protect them – that believes in the importance of building the human being and raising his capabilities. To volunteer, help people, and do good for them, and follow the example of God Almighty, “Whoever volunteers well, it is better for him.” Surat Al-Baqarah 184.

The wise leadership also believed in the importance of technology, building technical capabilities, and enhancing local technical content. The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has identified a number of technical pillars and goals that enhance the transition to the digital economy and was able to succeed and build digital capabilities that qualified the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to occupy a global position in the technology sector.

From these perspectives came the idea of establishing the Cloud Computing Association in order to be a tributary of digital volunteering and to contribute to building digital capabilities in Saudi society. Cloud computing is one of the technical models that contribute to enabling digital transformation initiatives for most organizations and provides many benefits, perhaps the most prominent of which is reducing the cost of using information technology services and accelerating innovation processes in the organization by facilitating access to advanced services that were previously restricted to large companies only. And cloud computing is a technical model based on the delivery of IT services to a large number of users and facilitating access to computer resources through the network or the Internet, and the use is billed on the basis of the pay-as-you-use model, and these computing resources are ready for use when needed.

Given our belief in the importance of cloud computing and the benefit it will provide to the nation, we turned the idea of a cloud computing group based on individual efforts into a voluntary organization, the Cloud Computing Association, which aims to:

  1. Supporting studies and research in the field
  2. Building national cadres specialized in this field
  3. Increase knowledge and cultural awareness in the field
  4. Supporting Arabic content in the field

In the Cloud Computing Association, we seek to be a voluntary organization capable of managing itself by applying the concept of sustainability and to be the first source of information in cloud computing technologies. We also seek to contribute to the formation of individual digital capabilities in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia through training and developing local competencies in the field of cloud computing.

Given that the association was established after the efforts of various parties, I would like to extend my sincere thanks and appreciation to the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology and the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Development for their efforts in establishing the association and facilitating them for many administrative procedures that culminated in the approval of the establishment of the association, and I would like to extend my sincere thanks and appreciation For board members and founding members for their great efforts before and after establishing the association.

I also do not forget to thank all the volunteers who contributed to any work that led to the establishment of the association and invite them to continue making the bid, as volunteer work is great work and the vision of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia aims to reach one million volunteers in the year 2030, and we are able to reach this number.

God’s preservation of this homeland has been and will continue to be a source of good, peace, and volunteering.

Your brother FahadAbdulaziz Al Hamad
